2026 Street Resurfacing

Dear Marquette County Resident:

FAHRNER ASPHALT SEALERS will be sealing your county road between August 27th through August 31th

Work will be performed on your county road on the days indicated above sometime between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.  Due to the number of roads scheduled, we do not know the exact time your road will be done.  WEATHER PERMITTING.

The County has determined this is a very economical surface treatment that prolongs the life of the County Roads by reducing the pavement deterioration caused by weathering.  Timely preventative maintenance like this prevents costly street reconstruction projects in the future.  We realize the inconvenience caused by limiting access to your road, but this will be brief.  Please understand that the inconvenience at this time is very small compared to what would later be required if this treatment was not applied.  With your cooperation, it will be possible for the County’s Contractor to complete the work quickly and with minimum inconvenience.

Chip Seal Aggregate is applied by using a thin layer of heated Asphalt Oil which is sprayed over the entire road surface and then covered by a thin layer of fractured Aggregate.  The Aggregate is rolled or pressed onto the oil layer many times with pneumatic tired rollers.  Vehicular traffic is allowed immediately onto the Aggregate after the rolling has been completed.  This process may last for about (30) minutes in any one spot.

Once the road has been open, it is important for you to drive slowly and avoid any sharp turns or quick stops.  Please be cautious when operating a motorcycle, bicycle, scooter and skateboard.

Most of the loose Aggregate will be SWEPT   after the rolling has been completed.  Loose Aggregate will remain on the street after the application has been performed.  The aggregate is protecting the oil that is sealing the road.  Please be aware you may track some residual loose Aggregate onto your driveway and into your house during this period.
