PREA
PREA stands for the Prison Rape Elimination Act, a U.S. law passed in 2003 that establishes a zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse and harassment in federal, state, and local correctional facilities, including prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities. The act requires the development and implementation of national standards to prevent, detect, and respond to sexual violence in confinement, while also increasing the accountability of officials for these incidents.
