Intoxicated Driver Program (IDP)

The Intoxicated Driver Program offers an assessment and driver’s safety plan for individuals convicted of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). The assessment takes approximately two hours and must be completed within the county of residency. An assessment fee of $250 is not covered by health insurance and must be paid in full before the assessment will be scheduled. Dependent upon assessment results, you may be referred to either an educational program or alcohol or drug treatment as part of the driver safety plan. Additional treatment services may be covered by your health insurance, however educational programs are not covered. Participation and completion of the program is reported to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
