Dwelling Code / Building Permits
The Marquette County Building and Mechanical Code is in effect in all municipalities of the County except:
Town of Springfield
Village of Endeavor
Village of Neshkoro
Village of Oxford
These municipalities utilize the same inspection firm, General Engineering Company, as the County, but under separate contracts.
The building inspector’s office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 am – 9 am. They can be reached at 608-617-6873 or by visiting the office in the Courthouse during their office hours.

New Home Construction Packet with Application
Items needed for UDC Home Alterations, Remodels, Additions, and New Homes:
- Fully completed application on the State of Wisconsin UDC Application for new homes or the General Building Permit Application for all other projects.
- Include all the owner’s information, all applicable contractors’ information with the license numbers and expirations dates
- Signed Cautionary Statement (usually attached to the application)
- Erosion control plan showing tracking pad and control measures
- Energy Code Compliance Information:
- For New Homes: the 2009 IECC ResCheck & Heat load/loss calculation
- For all other projects: prescriptive insulation method permitted
- Two sets of plans of proposed work (one set if submitted electronically as a pdf)
- Rooms labeled with dimensions, window and door sizes & locations, deck design details (if applicable), and a written scope of work (if applicable)
- For remodels/alterations: An existing floor plan with rooms labeled and showing the window and door sizes & locations.
- Wall cross section (if applicable)
- Brace walls and work sheet for new homes, additions, and alterations where applicable
Items needed for Deck Permit Applications:
- Fully completed General Building Permit Application and signed cautionary statement.
- Include all the owner’s information, all applicable contractors’ information with the license numbers and expirations dates
- Two sets of plans (one set if submitted electronically as a pdf)
- Include footing size, post spacing and size, beam size and spans, joist size and spans, and height above grade.
